NURSERY

Some people were bringing little children to Him so He might touch them. But His disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw it, He was indignant and said to them, "Let the little children come to Me; don't stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I assure you: Whoever does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." After taking them in His arms, He laid His hands on them and blessed them. Mark 10:13-16 (HCSB)

Jesus loves the little children…and so do we.  Nursery ministry is offered for children from birth up to two years of age for those families attending church services.   Our nursery is a safe place where children will receive a warm welcome and loving attention.  The nursery hours are regularly offered on Sunday mornings from 9:30-12:30 and Wednesday evenings from 6:15-8:00.  Additionally, nursery services are available for many of our church-sponsored special activities.

Our nursery is staffed by Sue Romanelli and one to two volunteers.  Sue has been with us for many years and loves each child as if she were their grandmother.  She is often heard saying that the hours she is in the nursery are the best part of her week.  When she isn’t taking care of children in the nursery, she is busy at the Alco Headquarters.  We are very blessed to have two loving individuals providing care for our children.

We ask that you bring your children prepared for their time in the nursery.  Please be sure to provide their snacks and drinks, special cups and bottles, “blankies” and pacifiers, and diapers and change of clothes.  All of their items should be marked with their names for hygiene purposes and to avoid loss and confusion.   If there are any special concerns, such as allergies or sleeping habits, notify Sue.  For safety reasons, the children in the nursery are only allowed to leave with those adult individuals who bring them to the nursery.  Siblings are asked to wait out in the hallway rather than enter the nursery in order to maintain safety and security with all of the children.

Our nursery not only provides an opportunity for children to be taken care of while parents are away being fed spiritually, but the nursery workers provide simple teaching times to introduce your children to the stories of the Bible.  [Each nursery worker has cleared a criminal background check.]

Once the children have celebrated their second birthday, they are promoted to the preschool department.  There are two Bible Study classes for the preschoolers: a class for the two and three year old children and a class for the four year old children and those children in kindergarten.  When Bible Study ends, the two and three year old class will remain in the same room for Extended Session.  The four year old and Kindergarten class will join their families for a portion of our Worship Celebration.  Each Sunday during the Worship Celebration, the children four years of age up through third grade are invited to join the pastor in Kid’s Connection.  Directly following Kid’s Connection, those children leaving for Extended Session will be escorted from the sanctuary to their respective classrooms (four year old through kindergarten upstairs and first through third grade downstairs).

Ashley Bellendir has recently joined our nursery and preschool staff, allowing us to meet the needs of our growing church.  She is a sophomore student at Kansas State University .  Growing up here in Junction City , she has been surrounded by children as her mother has provided preschool in their home for many, many years.  Ashley will provide childcare during Bible Study and during Extended Session.  She will be assisting the Bible Study teacher and then be assisted by volunteers during Extended Session.  The four year old children and those in Kindergarten will have volunteers assist in providing care after Kid’s Connection.
